Listen to our educational webinar on demand.

Discussions on Hurricane Preparedness is a webinar series hosted by Iteris, ITS Carolinas and ITS Florida that focuses on planning, operations and recovery strategies surrounding hurricane season.

The series of discussions brings industry thought leaders from a number of state transportation agencies together to discuss topics around planning and operating during major storms, technology used to support planning and operations, as well as the journey to getting back to normal.

In case you missed part one of the series, Planning and Operations During Hurricane Season, you can catch up on demand.

In the second part of the series, experts from the Georgia, Virginia and North Carolina departments of transportation explore the strategies and learnings each participating agency has on natural disaster recovery efforts.

This discussion looks at usage of technologies and partnerships to aid in the recovery efforts, including: using drones to identify flooded highways or heavy debris fields, and leveraging working relationships with private companies like WAZE and Apple Maps to ensure these applications do not route residents through flooded or closed roadways.

You will hear:

  • First-hand accounts of disaster mitigation strategies and techniques
  • How residents are kept informed of road conditions
  • What technologies are being used to clear the roads
  • How agencies are helping the public get back to normal
